About the Artist
Magnus Gjoen, a former designer for Vivienne Westwood, creates limited edition giclee prints examining the idea that something destructive can be transformed into a beautiful and fragile art object. Magnus Gjoen draws inspiration from street art and pop art, juxtaposing these aesthetics with fine art to create new and modern takes on classic masterpieces. It’s this misconception of beauty which Magnus Gjoen wants us to see in a different light, being it weapons, animals or the human race itself. The latter which is capable of creating immense beauty but also capable of destroying it all.
Magnus Gjoen has exhibited through Ink-d Gallery, The Saatchi Gallery and Lawrence Alkin Gallery alongside being exhibited for The Amy Winehouse Foundation and working in collaboration with Converse - making his artwork highly collectable and sought after by a wide collector base.
