Born in Communist Romania, Collage artists Irina & Silviu Szekely claim they have no ideological affiliations in their artwork, rather their cut and paste photomontage works are ‘conceptual spontaneities’. Irina & Silivu Szakely use a vast array of reference points in their work, from19th century photographs or scientific drawings spliced together with more obscure images, masking their original subjects behind jagged shapes and producing dark and widey collected original artworks that are humorous with an anthropological dimension. Exhibited widely around the UK and the USA, Irina & Siliviu Szekely are making a name for themselves by showing with galleries such as Won Gallery, South Korea, and CES Contempoary, Laguna Beach, alongside having their work featured in Bluecanvas Magazine and Featuring Magazine.
